Remarks 'snake' like 'serpent' and 'snail' is etymologically the 'crawling' animal, from a prehistoric German base denoting 'crawl' (p. 485 in Ref. 11979); 'blenny' from Latin 'blennius', i.e., a sea fish (Ref. 11978), from Greek 'blennos', i.e., slime, a fish allied to 'kôbios'.
