Remarks 'torgoch', i.e., 'redbelly', derived from the coloration of males; strictly speaking, the name 'torgoch' should only be applied to the three Welsh charr populations which are themselves assigned to a different species, Salvelinus perissi (Tristan Hatton-Ellis, Freshwater ecologist of the Countryside Council for Wales; Email: t.hatton-ellis@ccw.gov.uk).
