 Environment:  reef-associated
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: Restricted to areas around Japan and Indochina but there are records from the central and western Indian Ocean.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16. Rings: 13+44-46.
 Biology:  Found among seaweed and near the base of red algae on shallow rocky reefs (Ref. 637). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
