 Family:  Ophichthidae (Snake eels), subfamily: Ophichthinae
 Max. size:  80 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 7 - 293 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Hawaii, Midway, possibly Australia (including Lord Howe I.) and the Seychelles.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Thrives in shallow coastal clean sand habitats near reefs (Ref. 48635).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
