 Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
 Max. size:  12 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  Africa: Lukuga and Ruzizi Rivers (Lake Tanganyika drainage).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 18-18; Anal spines: 3-4. Eye wider than preorbital. Caudal fin rounded.
 Biology:  Omnivorous, swamp-dweller. In the lake, it is found only at the mouths of rivers and in their associated swamps (Ref. 6770).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
