 Family:  Atherinopsidae (Neotropical silversides), subfamily: Menidiinae
 Max. size:  10 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  pelagic-neritic; depth range 0 - 9 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Baja California, Mexico to Peru.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 24-30; Vertebrae: 39-41. Branchiostegal rays: 6 (Ref. 36497).
 Biology:  Found in surf zone and upper water column near shore along the open coast and in bays (Ref. 36497). Oviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 36497).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
