 Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
 Max. size:  9.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic; depth range 7 - 40 m
 Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs in the eastern shore south of Mozambique border near Masinje.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Mainly encountered at around 12 m depth. Feeds on sand-dwelling invertebrates (Ref. 5595).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
