 Family:  Alepocephalidae (Slickheads)
 Max. size:  40 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathypelagic; depth range 150 - 3200 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: southern Greenland and Iceland to Azores and 22°S. Western Atlantic: 40°N to the equator. Northwest Atlantic: Canada (Ref. 5951). Southeast Pacific: Chile (Ref. 9068). Indian Ocean.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Mesopelagic to benthopelagic (Ref. 2711). Adults usually in 820-1,425 m (Ref. 2711).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
