 Family:  Bedotiidae (Madagascar rainbowfishes)
 Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  pelagic; pH range: 7 - 8; dH range: 9 - 19,
 Distribution:  Africa: Mananjary River basin, eastern Madagascar (Ref. 76768).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Prefers well-shaded, quieter sections of small streams at altitudes of 300 to 650 meters above sea level; not collected in low altitude habitats in the Mananjary basin, probably because of increased silt loads and higher water temperatures due to deforestation in the area around the town of Mananjary; observed swimming in loose, size-graded associations of up to a dozen individuals; juveniles usually found in the shallows, adults frequent deeper water (Ref. 76768).
