 Family:  Osphronemidae (Gouramies), subfamily: Macropodusinae
 Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  Asia: southeastern Thailand and Mekong basin in Laos and Cambodia.
 Diagnosis:  Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 21-25. Head length 2.7-2.9 times in SL; male with anal fin extending about to mid-length of caudal fin; 3 dark stripes on brown body of both sexes; anal fin of live adult male with dark margin and blue submarginal band (Ref. 43281).
 Biology:  Found in marshes and slow flowing streams (Ref. 43281). Specimens were collected between overflowed plants; clear and colourless water; water data taken in Oct. 1999, 2:00 pm: pH 6.6, 180 µS/cm and 25.8 °C (Ref. 78499).
