 Family:  Hemitripteridae (Sea ravens or sailfin sculpins)
 Max. size:  25 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 0 - 250 m
 Distribution:  North Pacific: northern Sea of Japan to the Bering Sea and to northern British Columbia, Canada; more common in the northwestern Pacific.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21-22; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 18-20. Caudal fin rounded. Pelvic fins small.
 Biology:  Found near shore (Ref. 2850); often well above the bottom (Ref. 48798).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
