 Family:  Callionymidae (Dragonets)
 Max. size:  28 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 30 - 180 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: south to Natal, South Africa.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Body light to dark brown in color; black blotch on distal portion of 3rd dorsal spine; black submarginal band on anal fin (Ref. 4405).
 Biology:  Found on sandy and muddy substrate of coastal areas (Ref. 5213).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
