 Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
 Max. size:  4.4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  North America: found only in Coastal Plain streams in Mobile Bay drainage in Alabama and Mississippi, USA.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits mud-bottomed, often vegetated, pools of sluggish creeks and small rivers (Ref. 5723).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
