 Family:  Exocoetidae (Flyingfishes)
 Max. size:  19 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; depth range - 0 m, oceanodromous
 Distribution:  Indian Ocean: Arabian Sea but absent from the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. Also occurs in the Bay of Bengal.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabit surface waters of both neritic and oceanic areas (Ref. 30573). Capable of leaping out of the water and gliding for long distances above the surface.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
