 Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Tetraodontinae
 Max. size:  26 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Persian Gulf, southern Oman, India, Indonesia, northwestern Australia and the South China Sea. Reported from Japan (Ref. 12484). Southwest Atlantic: Brazil (Ref. 12484).
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-13. Caudal fin moderately emarginate.
 Biology:  Usually in shallow waters. Feeds on a variety of marine invertebrates (Ref. 68964).
