 Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Leuciscinae
 Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  North America: Atlantic Slope from Chowan River system in Virginia to Cape Fear River drainage in North Carolina, USA; upper New River drainage (Ohio River basin) in West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina, USA.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits rocky pools near riffles in clear creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 86798). Oviparous (Ref. 205), probably nest spawners like congeners.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
