 Family:  Holocentridae (Squirrelfishes, soldierfishes), subfamily: Myripristinae
 Max. size:  23 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 2 - 21 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Seychelles, Reunion, St. Brandon's Shoals (Cargados Carajos), and Madagascar.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 11-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-15; Anal spines: 4-4; Anal soft rays: 13-13. Pale reddish brown in color (Ref. 4201).
 Biology:  Specimens found in caves.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
