 Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Leuciscinae
 Max. size:  7.9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  North America: Coosa and Tallapoosa River systems (Mobile Bay drainage) in southeastern Tennessee, northwestern Georgia and eastern Alabama in the USA.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Occurs in clear, gravel-bottomed pools and runs, but common in spring-fed streams (Ref. 5723). Also inhabits small creeks and rivers (Ref. 10294).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
