 Family:  Ictaluridae (North American freshwater catfishes)
 Max. size:  8.9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic
 Distribution:  North America: restricted to the Green River drainage in Kentucky and Tennessee, USA (Ref. 5723). Individuals from the Duck River originally allocated to N. elegans are N. fasciatus, the latter restricted to the Duck River system and two minor tributaries of the lower arm of the Tennessee River, Tennessee (Ref. 56218).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits gravel riffles and runs of clear creeks and small rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294).
