 Family:  Ictaluridae (North American freshwater catfishes)
 Max. size:  9.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  North America: Gulf Slope drainages in the USA: disjunct populations in Conasauga River, Tennessee; Etowah River, Georgia; Cahaba River, central Alabama; Tombigbee River in western Alabama and eastern Mississippi; and Pearl River in southern Mississippi and eastern Louisiana.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Occurs in rocky riffles and runs of medium to large rivers. Often found near vegetation (Ref. 5723, 10294). Feeds on hydropsychid caddisfly larvae, ephemerellid mayfly nymphs, and blackfly and midge larvae (Ref. 10294).
 IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (B2ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v)) (Ref. 96402)
