 Family:  Atherinopsidae (Neotropical silversides), subfamily: Atherinopsinae
 Max. size:  13.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  pelagic-neritic
 Distribution:  South America: Paíta, Peru to Aysén, Chile.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Occurs in schools. Is mainly diurnal. Feeds primarily on the eggs of Engraulis ringens (Ref. 9120).
