 Family:  Pinguipedidae (Sandperches)
 Max. size:  18.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range - 400 m
 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from South Africa.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  A bottom fish occupying sandy or sand-rubble areas near reefs, but also occurs in bays and lagoons and offshore to depths not exceeding 400 m.
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
