 Family:  Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)

 Environment:  benthopelagic; depth range 23 - 62 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: Bay of Bengal from the east coast of India to Myanmar.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 23-26; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 25-25. Teeth weakly differentiated on lower jaw. Dorsal fin soft rays usually 24-25, upper + lower gill rakers 18-19, deep-bodied and a long second anal fin spine.
