 Family:  Ophichthidae (Snake eels), subfamily: Ophichthinae
 Max. size:  53.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 1 - 50 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: ranges from Gulf of California to Colombia, including the Galapagos Islands.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits sandy bottoms, between 1 and 35 m.
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
