 Family:  Haemulidae (Grunts), subfamily: Plectorhinchinae
 Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated
 Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Arabian Sea to southern Japan.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Inhabits coastal reefs, near rocky and coral areas (Ref. 9710). In Hong Kong live fish markets (Ref. 27253).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
