 Family:  Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)
 Max. size:  45 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic, non-migratory
 Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Sri Lanka round the Bay of Bengal to Borneo.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 30-34; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 10-12
 Biology:  Occurs in coastal waters and estuaries (Ref. 9772). Also caught with bottom trawls, and handlines (Ref. 9772). Marketed fresh as well as dried salted; swim bladder dried (Ref. 2113).
