 Family:  Balistidae (Triggerfishes)
 Max. size:  28 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 10 - 30 m
 Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Queensland, Australia to the Pitcairn Group.
 Diagnosis:  Caudal fin with black crescent.
 Biology:  A rare species that lives in outer reef areas. Feeds on fishes, benthic invertebrates, algae and organic matter (Ref. 89972).
 IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
