 Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Saya de Malha Bank.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 72-72; Anal soft rays: 59-59; Vertebrae: 42-42. The species is uniquely characterized by the following: no lateral line on both sides of the body; short ventral fin; total vertebrae 42 (9 trunk and 33 caudal); pectoral fin with 5 rays; spotted coloration (Ref. 84800).
