 Family:  Scaridae (Parrotfishes), subfamily: Scarinae
 Max. size:  70 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 3 - 55 m
 Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Ogasawara Islands in Japan.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Usually seen at depths of 25 m or more. Feeds on benthic algae during daytime.
 IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient  (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  harmless
