 Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastinae
 Max. size:  56 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 950.0 g; max. reported age: 37 years
 Environment:  demersal; depth range - 365 m
 Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: San Francisco in California, USA to northern Baja California, Mexico; rare north of Santa Barbara, California.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-8; Vertebrae: 27-27. Branchiostegal rays: 7 (Ref. 36715).
 Biology:  Adults are found commonly on deep rocky areas in southern California, USA from 30-366 m. Viviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 36715).
