 Family:  Acropomatidae (Lanternbellies, temperate ocean-basses)
 Max. size:  14.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  bathydemersal; depth range 180 - 576 m
 Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Caribbean Sea (Cuba) to Surinam.
 Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 9-9. Anterior edge of spines of dorsal, anal, or pelvic fins, not serrated. Without humeral spine. Anterior edge of preoperculum with few serrations at lower angle. Outer surface of posterior portions of preoperculum near lower angle without keels. Dorsal fins joined or nearly so.
