 Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Tetraodontinae
 Max. size:  18 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal; depth range 7 - 78 m
 Distribution:  Western Pacific: northwestern Australia. Recently recorded from the Chesterfield Islands, New Caledonia (Ref. 11897). Also from Papua New Guinea (Ref. 6771).
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Found on coastal bays and estuaries on sandy and muddy substrates to 20 meters depth (Ref. 48637).
 IUCN Red List Status:   (Ref. 96402)
 Threat to humans:  venomous
