 Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
 Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  benthopelagic; pH range: 8.5 - 9; dH range: 10 - 15
 Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Typical mud-dweller which inhabits shallow and deep waters of coastal areas. Feeds on diatoms and microorganisms but also omnivorous. A good community tank fish provided that its companions are of comparable size (Ref. 6770).
