 Family:  Siluridae (Sheatfishes)
 Max. size:  17.06 cm SL (male/unsexed)
 Environment:  demersal
 Distribution:  Asia: Mekong, Mae Khlong, Bang Pakong and Chao Phraya River drainages in mainland Southeast Asia. Previously misidentified as Kryptopterus cryptopterus from Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra and Borneo.
 Diagnosis:   
 Biology:  Occurs in large rivers with turbid waters (Ref. 27732) and in streams and canals (Ref. 12693). Feeds on fish, prawns, insects and their larvae (Ref. 12693). Spawns during the early part of the rainy season. The young move toward the seasonally flooded habitats and are first seen in August. Marketed fresh or smoked on a skewer.

 Threat to humans:  harmless
 Country info:  Known from the Mekong River drainage (Ref. 50583). Found in the Great Lake, TonlĂ© Sap (Ref. 36654) and Sangke river, Battambang province (Ref. 41486). Also Ref. 27732, 33813, 36651, 36686, 37772.
