Definition of Term

cell
(english) The smallest structural unit of all living matter capable of functioning independently. Higher animals and plants, protozoa, fungi and most algae have eukaryotic cells. Bacteria and blue green algae have prokaryotic cells. (See also: nucleus, eukaryotic, prokaryotic)
cellule
(french) La plus petite unité structurelle de matière vivante capable de fonctionner de manière indépendante. Animaux et plantes supérieurs, protozoaires, moisissures et la plupart des algues ont des cellules eucaryotes. Les bactéries et les algues bleues ont des cellules procaryotes.
