Definition of Term

coast
(english) The nearshore benthic marine environment; extends from the vegetation line to the deep ocean floor; a coast section normally ranges from 10's to 100's of km in linear extent along the marine/terrestrial interface; coast may be either: coast - barrier reef, Coast - fringing reef, or coast - noncoral reef; each coast type contains different area types. (See also: barrier reef coast, fringing reef coast, noncoral reef coast)

(french) L'environnement maritime benthique de la littorale; s'étend de la ligne de végétation au sol de l'océan profond; une section de la côte normalement de 10's à 100's km d'ampleur linéaire le long de l'interface marine/terreste; la côte peut être: soit côte - récif barrière, côte - récif frangeant, ou côte - récifs noncoralliens; chaque type de côte contient des types des régions différents.
