Definition of Term

neotype
(english) According to the Code, the single specimen designated as the name-bearing type of a nominal species or subspecies for which no holotype, or lectotype, or syntype(s), or prior neotype, is believed to exist. (See also: Code, holotype, lectotype)
néotype
(french) D’après le Code, le spécimen unique désigné comme le type porte-nom d’une espèce ou d’une sous-espèce nominale pour laquelle il y a lieu de croire qu’il n’existe plus d’holotype, de lectotype, de syntype ou de néotype antérieur. (See also: Code, holotype, lectotype)
neotipo
(portuguese) Do Código, o espécimen que possui o nome da espécie ou da sub-espécie em que se não conhece holótipo, lectótipo, sintipo ou neotipo anterior. (See also: Code, holotype, lectotype)
