Definition of Term

nomenclature
(english) According to the Code, a system of names used in a particular science, and formally adopted by usage of the scientists; a systematic naming of animals and plants applied to taxa, or the application of these names. In ichthyology, the scientific names of fishes are decided in accordance with the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, a printed set of rules that is periodically reviewed by an international body of zoologists. Em ictiologia os nomes das espécies de peixes são atribuidos de acordo com o Código de Nomenclatura Zoológica, conjunto de regras publicadas e revistas periodicamente por um corpo de zoólogos.
