On the basis of a specimen (UMMZ 143303) from Lago de Pátzcuaro, Michoacán; a large 4.93 cm SL, pale female adult, with no significant meristic or morphometric differences with A. dugesi (Ref. 35111).
  Etymology of Generic name : 
  
Greek, allos = other + Greek, tokos = birth (Ref. 45335). The transliterated Latin terminal part of the compound name ('tocus') was changed to 'toca', thus the genus is feminine (Ref. 35111).
