Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea (Ref. 5385) and the Indo-Australian Archipelago. Reported as a Lessepsian migrant from Red Sea in the eastern Mediterranean - Lebanon and Israel (Ref. 05385).

Inhabits sandy or weed covered areas. A good food fish.
