Occurs in shallow rocky areas (Ref. 2850). Crawls over bottom and climbs rocks faces with its pectoral fins (Ref. 2850). Body often covered with small sponges and seaweed, which provide camouflage (Ref. 2850). Demersal spawner in nearshore habitats (Ref. 56049).
