Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7; Anal soft rays: 6. Absence of adipose fin; cleithral width 27.3-31.7% SL; presence of normally developed dermal plates on the dorsal surface of body; nuptial males with few and delicate hypertrophied odontodes on the lateral margin of head, usually hidden by extensive soft fleshy lobes (Ref. 42856).
