Marine; bathypelagic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243); depth range 40 - 850 m (Ref. 4479). Deep-water, preferred ?; 60°N - 45°S
Eastern Atlantic: British Isles to Mauritania, from Namibia to South Africa; also Mediterranean. Western Atlantic: USA to 20°N, from Brazil to Argentina. Northwest Atlantic: Canada (Ref. 5951). Indian Ocean: 23°-45°S. South Pacific: Australia to South America in the region of Subtropical Convergence (northern extension to 24°S in the Peru Current).
