Vertebrae: 156. This species is distinguished by the following characters: body elongate, slender brown with spots on head and anterior throat region; anal fin has a pale margin; anus is before midbody; preanal length 2.15 in TL; depth at gill opening 33 in TL; head 10.7 in TL; middle of orbit is above the middle of jaw; jaws are moderate, not recurved; conical teeth, mostly uniserial; jaw teeth numerous and closely spaced; body color uniformly tan overlain with white spots and markings on throat, forehead, cheeks, nape and anterior branchial basket; MVF 4-64-156 (Ref. 83560).
