Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 2; Anal spines: 0. Head completely scaled except for the lips, gill membranes and interopercle tip. Snout short, bluntly pointed, with a stout conical tubercle at its tip and lateral angles; chin barbel small, shorter than suborbital width. Body scales with less than 20 sharp, thin spinules in widely divergent rows, or irregular quincunx pattern. Color of body and fins pale to medium brown; orbital and nostrils dark brown.
