Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Is definitely not a shell-dweller because of its size but like most so-called 'shell-dwellers', it is a shell spawner. Usually found swimming off the sand bottom and sometimes over rock, in whose recesses it perhaps might spawn as well. Swims singly or as pairs or trios, and never in schools. Commonly stays in deep water. Has a peaceful temper and its lack of aggression or territorialism makes it a valuable addition to a tank (Ref. 6770).
