Radios blandos dorsales (total): 7-8; Radios blandos anales: 6 - 8. Distinguished from its congeners by having a reduced number of rays in the dorsal, anal and pectoral fins: dorsal-fin rays 7-8; anal-fin rays 6-8; pectoral-fin rays 20-22 (Ref. 54768).

Occurs in shallow waters on hard-bottom habitats that consist of areas rich in calcareous and brown algae, corals and sponges (Ref. 54768).
