Abundance:  
Comments: Occurs along the Pacific coast and drainage (Ref. 11980) as far inland as the Skeena River headwaters. Does not reach the higher reaches of major rivers like the Columbia River. Freshwater records from Vancouver and Queen Charlotte Islands, the lower and middle Fraser River, rivers of the central coast, and the Stikine and Taku Rivers (Ref. 10882). There is a questionable record from the Alsek River (Ref. 10882). Introduced into the Similkameen and lower Peace Rivers (Ref. 10882). Game fishers have a daily catch quota of 4-6 (all trout/char combined) depending on the region but only 2-4 may be taken from streams and only one trout can be >50 cm. Size limit: minimum of 30 cm for fish caught in anadromous streams. Numerous water specific regulations apply (Ref. 10989). Also Ref. 1998, 78809, 95143.
