Description: Adults white with horizontal stripes black broader dorsally, snout and forehead yellow; fins yellow, dorsal, anal and caudal fins with black spots (Ref. 48635, 90102). Subadult head stronger yellow; fins spots coalesced into solid bands. Juveniles head yellow, body and tail white with irregular black broad stripes extending to dorsal, anal and caudal fins. Juveniles undergo remarkable transformation to adult phase at a length of 15 cm (Ref. 37816). Lips thick. Dorsal fin 3rd or 4th spines longest. Body depth 2.6-2.9 in SL. Caudal fin rounded in juveniles, truncate in adults (Ref. 90102). |
