Vertebrae: 48 - 52. Mature males with bifurcated serrae on the pectoral spine; zero or one gill raker on first branchial arch; and depth of caudal peduncle 6.3-9.5% SL.
Occurs in both acid water forest streams and blackwater habitats in peat swamps (Ref. 32835). Also found in blackwater streams in lowland and upland areas (Ref. 56749).
